International Peace Day
Promoting online peace, raising awareness about cyberbullying, and encouraging people to help build respectful digital spaces.
DIGITAL RESPECT • DIGITAL RESPONSIBILITY
Universities, online communities, and youth-led digital spaces create opportunities for discussion, learning, and civic engagement. However, these spaces can also be affected by misinformation, hate speech, polarization, harassment, and harmful online behaviour.
Together, we can stand against cyberbullying, hate speech, and online harassment. Learn, report harmful behaviour, and make a positive difference online.
The DARE Crafting: #SlashTheHate project promotes responsible and ethical digital participation among young people.

OUR JOURNEY
Every step brings us closer to a safer, kinder, and more respectful digital world.
Building awareness about hate speech, cyberbullying, online harassment, and respectful communication.
Sharing positive messages, encouraging responsible social media use, and inviting others to join the movement.
A planned awareness walk starting at the school main gate at 7:00 AM to spread the campaign message within the community.
On 3 November 2026, at 3:00 PM, the Centre for Religion, Conflict and Peacebuilding (CRCP) at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) will officially launch the #SlashTheHate campaign, bringing together young people, university representatives, government officials, partners, and other stakeholders committed to promoting peaceful and responsible digital engagement in Kenya.
The #SlashTheHate campaign will officially launch on 3 November 2026 at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), bringing together young people, partners, and stakeholders to champion digital peacebuilding and responsible online engagement.
A key highlight will be the unveiling of a nationwide digital competition inviting young people to create innovative social media content that reflects the #SlashTheHate message. Outstanding entries and winners are expected to be announced at the #SlashTheHate Hackathon in April 2027.
Ahead of the launch, the campaign awareness walk on 30 October 2026 will rally young people and supporters to amplify the campaign's message.
The launch marks the beginning of a broader effort to harness youth creativity, digital innovation, and collective action to counter online hate and promote peaceful digital engagement across Kenya.
WHY IT MATTERS
The internet connects us, but the way we communicate online can affect real people and real lives.
False or inaccurate information shared without the intention to deceive can mislead audiences and create unnecessary fear or conflict. Verify information before sharing.
False or misleading information deliberately shared to deceive people can deepen divisions and spread mistrust. Check sources and share verified information.
Repeated harmful behaviour through digital platforms can cause emotional distress. Reject bullying and support those affected.
Communication that attacks or encourages hostility against people based on their identity can fuel discrimination. Choose respect and challenge harmful language responsibly.
Threats, intimidation, unwanted contact, and repeated online abuse can damage well-being and discourage people from participating freely.
Violent extremism involves supporting or using violence to pursue political, religious, ideological, or social goals. Promote peaceful dialogue and reject incitement to violence.
